Project: Petey and Barnadette

Client: Petbarn

Petey is a dog with total confidence, even though he's never earned it. Barnadette is a cat who's already figured out the thing everyone else is still catching up to. Petbarn turned them from flat, 2D illustrations into living, breathing characters, built them a yellow felt world and let them loose in it. They talk like completely normal, slightly dysfunctional Australians who happen to be animals. The launch started with a stunt. Petey deleted Petbarn's entire Instagram feed and replaced it with bad selfies and nostril close-ups. The internet lapped it up. 3,600 likes and 6 million in organic reach on the first post. From there the characters made themselves at home everywhere: monologue films, in-store PA announcements, nutrition and parasite protection campaigns, eDMs, OOH and an ongoing social community voice. The ambition is simple. Make people care about two felt animals who can't agree on most things. And make Petey and Barnadette as much a part of Australian pet culture as the pets themselves.

Sorry, we don't like pop-ups either. But we do like compliance. Here's our Privacy Policy if you care to read.
